Going to Africa can be a life changing experience. Your heart will be warmed and broken at the same time. You will fall in love with the beauty of the continent and the hearts of the people. Your heart will be broken as you see children orphaned by AIDS, malnutrition, medical issues and poverty in general. There are many needs in Africa but the biggest need is Jesus.
Helping Hands has been involved in Africa for the last several years and has sought to meet the needs of the people in practical ways. Our primary focus is Uganda where we support six native schools for needy children with nearly 1600 pupils. Helping Hands is currently working toward the purchase of 150 acres of land to begin the Village of Eden which will provide housing, education and a Christian family upbringing for 1000 orphans.
We also partner with Grace Calvary Christian Ministry (GCCM) which has over 250 church plants throughout Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Congo. GCCM has been the gateway into countries in Africa other than Uganda. We help these new churches with pastor training and provide help with outreach through hut to hut evangelism, children's ministry, medical clinics, etc.
Whatever the type of ministry the end goal is always the same: sharing Jesus. We cannot provide for every child and we cannot cure every disease but we can bring lasting impact by introducing these wonderful people to the Bread of Life and the Great Physician.
We are always in need of help in Uganda and other countries in Africa. No matter what your skill set, we can always find a place for you to serve. Medical, children, construction...all of these things and more are possible ministries in Africa.
